This project included a complete refurbishment of the property, with an extension to the existing footprint comprised of a new master suite and gym/swimming pool complex.
The clients were keen to introduce a contemporary scheme with a minimalist feel. Clean lines and sharp finishes. However, given that this is a family home, they also had a realistic vision in regards to what extent this could be achieved. They were happy for us to develop ideas that involved designing architectural features to be used as a vessel for innovative and creative lighting.
Fibre optics and a reflective stretch ceiling were incorporated into the gym/swimming pool complex. The need to stitch the lighting presented a great opportunity to design a custom ceiling structure for the purpose of carrying concealed LEDs, enabling us to create the clean lines that were desired.
The challenge faced in the kitchen/living/dining area was to take what was essentially four individual living areas and create a practical lighting scheme that was functional, comfortable and allowed each zone to be defined while remaining a cohesive, habitable space. Throughout the rest of the house, we were tasked with complementing and enhancing the interiors. This was achieved via the utilisation of feature and accent lighting that occasionally used elements of colour already present within the scheme.
Control was a key element in the overall design. Home automation was an important requirement and we were able to implement a system that ensured perfect versatility and effectiveness. Both the lighting and control schemes were designed with the intention of reducing the carbon footprint of the property and almost every piece sourced for the project was low energy LED.
