Theater de Vest was originally built in 1978 and is ready for a thorough renovation. The building no longer satisfies contemporary technical requirements. The auditorium has too few seats for large productions and the sightlines are not optimal. Furthermore, the stage area is too small. Jonkman Klinkhamer architecten made a design for the complete renovation of the large auditorium and the stage and flytower area. In this design, much attention has gone into providing the stage area with natural daylight. The renovation was put on hold in 2011, but will probably continue on some level in 2012
