Set among the green, winding roads of Sint-Martens- Latem, an affluent Ghent suburb, this is a house on a large plot by the river Leie for a private client, who was after a family home that is discreet and functional but also a great space for relaxing and hosting.
The pronounced roof overhangs highlight the structure’s low, linear volumes, cantilevering out towards the green surroundings. The sizeable property spans some 1500 sq m and two levels in an L-shaped plan.
The internal arrangement places all living areas on the ground level, while the upper floor contains two guest bedrooms, an expansive master suite and a smaller, independent apartment. Responding to the owners’ brief, one of the house’s long wings is fully dedicated to an indoor pool and spa.
This branch of the house has its own entrance, so guests don’t have to go through the main residence to reach it. Large openings along the pool allow the indoors and outdoors to blend seamlessly, uniting this bespoke wellness and entertaining space with the green expanses outside, which have been designed by renowned Belgian garden architect Daniël Ost.
