Urbanio

E-mobility for local passenger transport

zatran GmbH as Mobility consultant

Clean e-mobility for sensitive downtown areas The reduction of emissions as well as an efficient handling of energy resources are challenges urban areas have to face all over the world nowadays while the need for mobility is increasing at the same time. Urbanio is a 100% battery-driven system for local passenger transport that combines the obvious advantages of trams, buses and automated people movers (APMs). It offers flexible alignments and the low infrastructural requirements of buses as well as passenger capacities and the zero-emissions of trams.

Thanks to the clever construction of the guideway, Urbanio is able to drive on elevated guideways, similar to automated guideway transit (AGT) systems. A combination of manual operation on the ground and a semi-automated operation on elevated guideways is also possible.

Wide range of application thanks to a unique technical concept Based on the unique battery switch system it is possible to operate Urbanio 100% electrically, thus in an environmentally friendly way 24 hours a day. Moreover, the battery switch system offers numerous advantages such as a low empty weight of the vehicles as well as high reliability and availability. The regulated electro-hydraulic multiple axle steering mechanism guarantees directional stability of all the wheels and enables particularly narrow curve radiuses. Thanks to its bidirectional operation capability Urbanio is able to simply drive around obstacles and to turn in very little space.

High adaptability and ability of integration for the green cities of tomorrow Urbanio can easily be adapted to the individual needs of cities and impresses with a modern and functional design. An elevated operation with switches is possible by using an optional inductive or optical guiding system. The existing street infrastructure on the ground can be used thanks to pneumatic tyres and manual steering. Thus the installation of rails or overhead wires is not necessary.

Urbanio meets the expectations that public transport operators demand from successful local public passenger transport systems Because of its high compatibility with other traffic systems, the low infrastructure requirements, its modular way of construction, the simple operation and maintenance concept and the fully automated battery switch system Urbanio is able to meet many expectations that public transport operators demand from sustainable solutions for local public passenger transport systems. All kinds of successful local public passenger transport systems operating today have the following common characteristics:

Economic and environmentally friendly alternative for private project environments Urbanio is not only suitable for local public passenger transport, but can also be applied in private environments for the primary- and/or fine distribution in a network-, or single line feeder/connector configuration e.g. in airport-, exhibition-, university- as well as hotel- and business centre areas or theme parks. Due to the emission-free drive technology Urbanio can be also applied in closed buildings. By fulfilling the same requirements of fully automated transport systems such as automated people movers (APMs) or monorails, Urbanio represents an even more economical alternative than these systems.
