AUXAU – Atelier d’architecture as Architects

3 HOUSES WITHOUT RUPTURE
In an urban alignment, the project naturally finds its way in the definition of a complete and compact envelope allowing to accommodate the general program while offering specific spatial qualities for each living space.

This envelope perfectly synthesizes the general conditions of the context.

The need for a complete solution appeared obvious to us in order to meet all the constraints of the project: programmatic, financial, technical, constructive, thermal and aesthetic.

From this envelope, the project's modelling allowed us to optimize the spaces and volumes developed within an envelope that is the direct consequence of its close environment (gauge, implantations, party profiles, ...)

On the street side, on the first floor, a recess is proposed in order to preserve the living spaces from direct contact with the street, and to offer a specific access to each dwelling, allowing for bicycle parking.

This recessed space is translated to the rear of the houses, so as to extend the living spaces to propose fully crossing first floors, and thus exploit the length of the land. This allows the exterior and interior spaces to enhance each other.

We continue here the neighboring constructive logic which extends to the first floor in order not to impose itself on the others in height. Simplified volumes appear and are cut within the general envelope.

This unique envelope allows, without difficulty, high quality natural light to enter the dwellings at the desired locations and in an abundant manner.

Particular care is taken with the materials and their implementation. They have been selected for their technical qualities and durability, as well as for their intrinsic aesthetic quality (appearance, texture, color, dimensions) which will naturally express itself in the project.

Their choice contributes to the general aesthetics of the buildings, which is intended to be uncluttered and neutral, favoring appropriation by the future occupants.
