Located in the heart of Al Barari, one of Dubai’s most exclusive and environmentally conscious communities, this residence was envisioned as a serene retreat that reflects the owners’ grounded, wellness-oriented lifestyle. Surrounded by lush gardens and flowing water features, the home was designed to harmonize with its natural surroundings while offering modern comfort and understated luxury. The architectural style blends contemporary organic design with Balinese influences, combining clean, minimalist lines with natural textures to create a space that feels both refined and deeply connected to nature.
The clients sought a home that embodied tranquility, mindfulness, and intentional living, an open, light-filled sanctuary where indoor and outdoor spaces flow seamlessly together. The vision was to create a calm and timeless atmosphere, one that supports both quiet living and effortless entertaining. Achieving this required careful attention to proportion, materiality, and the home’s relationship to its lush setting, ensuring every space felt alive with balance and ease.
Among the most significant challenges was sourcing and implementing the wood cladding for the roof. It had to be sustainable and visually cohesive with the Swedish wood flooring inside, yet durable enough to withstand exterior conditions without warping. Extensive research, testing, and supplier coordination were required to ensure resilience without compromising design integrity. Another complex element was the custom-built marine aquarium. More than a design feature, it required months of biological conditioning to establish a thriving ecosystem. Preparing the water, introducing coral, and carefully phasing in marine life demanded precision and patience, as the tank needed to reach full maturity by project handover, a rare challenge of aligning construction timelines with nature’s rhythm.
The material palette was carefully curated to reflect the home’s serene and organic essence. Travertine was chosen for flooring, countertops, cladding, and furniture accents, offering timeless elegance and earthy texture. Swedish natural wood flooring introduced warmth and softness in the bedrooms, while custom-made wooden ceilings enhanced the organic, grounded feel throughout the spaces. A soft neutral palette of white, beige, and warm taupe provided a calming backdrop, allowing the textures of wood and stone to take center stage. Subtle, organic accents ensured visual harmony while maintaining the refined, nature-inspired character envisioned by the clients.
The result is a home that embodies quiet abundance, open, light-filled, and grounded in natural beauty. It feels simultaneously peaceful and elevated, evoking the essence of Bali while resonating with Al Barari’s lush, green surroundings. More than just a residence, it is a mindful sanctuary, an intentional space that celebrates simplicity, nature, and the art of living well.
