Villa VIDA by Manuel Ruiz Moriche, ARK Architects

Villa VIDA is conceived as an architecture in continuous dialogue with nature, where landscape, water, light and materiality shape the experience of the house.

The project is rooted in a close relationship with its surroundings. Vegetation is not treated as a separate layer, but as an integral part of the architecture, accompanying movement through the house and reinforcing the sense of privacy, calm and connection with the landscape. Water is introduced as another defining element, bringing reflections, movement and sound into the spatial experience.

Natural stone forms the primary skin of the villa and becomes one of the project’s guiding materials, giving continuity to the architecture and helping to define the transition between spaces. Together with wood and carefully integrated vegetation, it creates a material palette based on texture, warmth and permanence. These natural elements extend into the interiors, dissolving the boundaries between inside and outside.

Light plays a fundamental role in the organisation of the house. Rather than acting simply as illumination, it helps articulate volumes, reveal materials and establish different atmospheres throughout the day. The orientation and arrangement of the spaces respond to the distinctive light of southern Spain, while framing views of the surrounding landscape.

The design reflects the humanist approach of architect Manuel Ruiz Moriche and ARK Architects, placing the experience of the inhabitants at the centre of the project. The relationship between spaces, orientation, lifestyle and landscape is carefully considered to create a home that feels both protected and deeply connected to its setting.

As Manuel Ruiz Moriche explains, the project is rooted in an architecture born from a respect for natural materials, light and the people who inhabit the spaces.

Set within the landscape of Sotogrande, Villa VIDA seeks to create a continuous relationship between architecture and nature. Stone, wood, vegetation, water and light come together as a unified system, shaping a home in which the surrounding environment becomes an essential part of everyday life.
