VORTEX

The extension of the single-family house in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid, is a renovation of the aesthtetics of the facade and an update of the spaces, showing a pure architecture, with minimalist lines, where the protagonist is the space.

the update is carried out trying to maintain the current structure of the building. As the regulations required us to maintain the sloping roof, all the inclined planes were now formalized in a more modern and current way.

the program is divided into two clears areas, the day zone and the night zone. The day area is located on the ground floor, and is configured as a large volumen with sloping panels that generate a large double-height space, corresponding to the living-dining room area. Just on the opposite side of this spaces, is the kitchen. Above this zone, there is the night area, playing with sloping ceilings, where the rooms and bathrooms are located working for a more private and intimate area.

These two blocks (ground floor and first floor) are joined by means of an exposed concrete staircase (which acts as a scupture), and in this case it is the communication nucleus of both floors together with a void that visually communicates the space on the first floor with the double-height living-dining room.

The house is closed to the street and the maximum number of controlled spaces are opened towards the inner part of the plot to allow visibility in all directions of both the pool, the garden and the views.
