The challenge was to create a wall that is not a wall. Maple plywood was cut into vertical and horizontal ribs that friction fit together creating a frame. This frame was designed to flow from floor to ceiling. The frame also “morphs” into a countertop. The frame is filled with polycarbonate panels. No fasteners were used.
This portable wall can be knocked down in 10 minutes and takes 30 minutes to install.
RBA was selected to design an art installation in this 100 year old mansion that is open to the public for tours. Because this was a dark attic space, we decided to create a light wall to serve many purposes, including displaying art objects, gaming table, light fixture, ceiling and wall divider.
