The Water Treatment & Sewage Complex (WTC) at King Salman Park is a visionary project that redefines infrastructure by integrating functionality, sustainability, and design within a vibrant urban green space. Strategically located at the park’s southern edge, the WTC supports Riyadh’s ambitious transformation goals under Saudi Vision 2030.
Spanning 137,736 m², the complex includes a Potable Water Treatment Plant (WTP), a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), and a Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) facility. The design blends utility with environmental stewardship by concealing mechanical systems underground, minimizing noise, odors, and visual impact while maximizing public accessibility. Above ground, active green roofs and shaded pedestrian pathways harmonize with the park’s landscape, creating a permeable and visually appealing domain.
Employing advanced technologies like ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis, the WTC processes up to 192,000 cubic meters of treated water daily, meeting the irrigation needs of the park’s urban forest and wadis. Beyond its technical achievements, the complex serves as an educational space, emphasizing the importance of sustainable water reuse and fostering community engagement.
