Robertet Mexico’s relocation from an industrial zone to a high-end corporate environment marks a significant moment in the company’s growth and cultural evolution. As the Mexican subsidiary of the French fragrance and flavour manufacturer, Robertet sought a headquarters that could consolidate offices and laboratories on a single floor while expressing the brand’s values of innovation, craftsmanship, and sensory intelligence. Designed and delivered by Contract Workplaces, the project supported the client from site selection through to execution, ensuring strategic, operational, and cultural alignment throughout the process.

Located on the 34th floor of Torre M within the Mitikah complex in Mexico City, the 2,050-square-metre workplace occupies a AAA, LEED-certified building. The move to a corporate environment was both symbolic and functional, positioning the company to attract talent, host clients, and support future expansion.

Integrating offices and laboratories

A core challenge was the seamless coexistence of administrative workspaces and highly technical fragrance and flavour laboratories. Rather than isolating these functions, the design brings them into proximity, encouraging collaboration between perfumers, chemists, designers, and commercial teams. The spatial layout balances openness with the specific environmental and operational requirements of laboratory spaces.

The reception area acts as the organisational and experiential heart of the project. From here, circulation branches into two primary zones: the flavours area, housing laboratories, tasting booths, showrooms, and product demonstration spaces; and the aromas area, which includes specialised laboratories, private perfumer offices, and a sensory showroom. Shared meeting rooms, informal lounges, and rest areas are distributed throughout, supporting both focused work and spontaneous exchange.

Sensory experience and brand identity

Because Robertet lacked a global interior design guideline, the Mexico headquarters was conceived as a prototype for future offices worldwide. A vibrant yet controlled colour palette draws from the brand’s visual identity, blending natural tones with fresh, energetic accents. A material palette of light woods, satin-finished metals, and specially treated glass strikes a balance between technical rigour and warmth.

Art and interior graphics were developed collaboratively with Robertet teams in France and Colombia. Botanical motifs inspired by fruits, flowers, citrus, and leaves reference the company’s raw materials, reinforcing brand identity throughout the space. Murals, vinyl applications, and curated displays animate walls and circulation areas, turning the office into an immersive brand environment.

Sustainability and wellness

Sustainability is embedded through the building’s existing LEED certification and reinforced by interior design strategies aligned with wellness and efficiency. Energy-saving systems, low-consumption sanitary fixtures, and high-performance building services reduce operational impact.

The building’s urban location, with direct access to public transportation, amenities, and shared green spaces, supports healthier commuting and daily routines. Laboratory and office systems were carefully integrated to maintain comfort, air quality, and safety across diverse programmes, ensuring that technical performance and human well-being remain equally prioritised.
