Created for the Wildflower Park Community Pavilion, this art installation is part of the city’s centennial and celebrates local history by transforming it into large-scale architectural mosaics through a process that blends community storytelling, archival research, and advanced robotic technology.

Boca Raton–based artist Laura Tanner’s artwork for the murals explores the city’s evolution from an agricultural community to a contemporary South Florida destination. Drawing from oral histories, archival imagery, and objects contributed by residents, the works trace Boca Raton’s relationship to food, landscape, and collective memory.

Tanner collaborated with local historians and organized public story-sharing events to help inform her designs. Once created, the final works were translated from Tanner’s large-scale drawings into ceramic and vitreous glass mosaics through collaboration with mosaic designer and manufacturer, Artaic. Tanner worked closely with Artaic’s design team to adapt the layered drawings into mosaic form using the brand’s proprietary design software, carefully balancing fine detail, contrast, architectural constraints, and material translation while preserving the warmth and texture of the original hand-drawn compositions. Then, the mosaics were created by placing individual tiles on 12x12 sheets using robotic technology to compose the final murals.
