The Zetian Project is located in Fumin Road in Shanghai in the heart of the lively crowd of the city center.

The vision was to create a flagship store inspired by a micro factory, a factory that will immerse you into the heart of the Dorayaki creation, the famous delicious Japanese pancakes.

As soon as you enter you are inspired by a factory like environment, while you watch first hand, not only the baking process of Dorayaki but right down to the packing. 

I utilized materials mainly found in modern factories, that was constructed and re designed in a unique and creative way. Stainless steel counter tops and flooring, pebble stoned walls highlighted by a magnificent conveyor that carries the packed Dorayaki from the kitchen itself to the main room.

The project was based on a theatrical realistic experience. The shop is one meter lower from the street level so you literally dominate the space like if you were on stage before entering. We wanted the symmetry of the space to generate an inclusive emotion, that inevitably made you feel part of the show, where your baker will be the chief of the orchestra.

The minimalist lines are inspired by the simplicity and sleek Japanese design to remind the origins of the Dorayaki.
