7 Islas hotel – Art, Design And Gastronomy

Inaugurated in 2002 by businessman Juan Rosa, originally from Lanzarote, 7 Islas Hotel was opened with the purpose of being a home away from home for all those Canaries visiting Madrid. In 2012 Juan Rosa’s granddaughters, Mónica, Kira and Luz take the baton of the hotel and convert it, without losing its essence, in the current 7 Islands Hotel, a space that combines art, design and gastronomy in an excellent way. The remodelling of the hotel has been done by Madrid furniture and interior design studio Kikekeller who has not neglected a single detail of the project. From the different environments of its diaphanous lobby to each of its rooms

INDEPENDENT AND FAMILY RUNNED HOTEL
The 7 Islas Hotel is one of the few hotels in Madrid that is still run by the same family that built it 17 years ago, the Rosa family. The sisters Luz, Kira and Mónica are in charge of managing the day-to-day work of one of the most fashionable hotels in the centre of the city of Madrid.

THE REMODELING
The dream of the Salces sisters was to create an urban hotel, where design was fully integrated into the neighbourhood. For this reason they opted to develop the concept hand by hand with Kikekeller, furniture and interior design studio that has provided the hotel with its current essence, using robust materials such as wood and steel. The time before the Bauhaus and minimalism inspire this team of interior designers. They recycle the engineering that was designed make cars and planes and use them for home purposes. His work recovers the craftsmanship of the 50’s creating objects that last forever. This is the case with each piece of furniture, unique pieces designed and manufactured in their workshop, where they have also had the participation of young creators from Madrid.

THE ROOMS
The 79 rooms of this hotel with a markedly urban character have been decorated following the same parameters in all of them, the intention is that guests can breathe the same carefully design when staying in one of their Easy Rooms, in a Deluxe or in one of the three Penthouses with terrace. In the rooms the main objective has been to convey comfort, warmth, exclusivity and surprise, and combining natural materials and colours and rationalizing the use of decorative elements have achieved this. The headboards, made of steel and braided leather, are the result of the collaboration between Kikekeller and the designer Matías Carbiá. For their part, hangers are small bronze hands and feet have been designed in collaboration with Ignacio del Toro.
