RMJM was commissioned to develop a campus masterplan for a joint education initiative at Craigie Campus in Ayr. The campus will include facilities for the Scottish Agricultural College and University of West of Scotland who are co-locating to achieve space efficiency while still maintaining their own distinct identities. RMJM is also designing new media, education and health facilities for this University. The landmark building design will complement the spectacular parkland and riverside setting by the creation of new ‘living classrooms’ and the use of sympathetic materials.
T he project has achieved a BREEAM‘ Excellent’ rating for both Design/Procurement and Post-Construction stages. South Ayrshire Council are the public body in ownership of Craigie Estate and have been a key partner throughout the development of the masterplan and the elements within. This has taken the form of working masterplan meetings with South Ayrshire Council represented and influencing the design prior to making applications for outline and detailed planning.
The Campus was completed on program.
