Hammersmith Embankment

Occupying a key location on the north bank of the River Thames, this mixed use development enjoys a panoramic view of Hammersmith Bridge. A series of buildings are arranged to stitch the development into its context and enhance permeability across the site, creating a network of routes that converge on an urban square at the heart of the site before leading down to a spacious waterfront park.

Three main office buildings of between five and six storeys are arranged around the central square, each consisting of two fingers of accommodation separated by a street which is drawn through the length of the structure. Two additional buildings located along the northern boundary of the site provide a buffer between the development and the adjacent Thames Pumping Station, and contain a mix of uses including cafes, exhibition space and private residential accommodation.

All buildings have main entrances leading onto the square, with cafes and restaurants situated at ground level to reinforce this space as the active social heart of the scheme. The generous riverside park ensures full public access to the waterfront and features a pontoon deck which offers views up and downstream.

The landscaping also incorporates the dug-in structure of a water sports facility which will support a range of sports and educational activities. The scheme is completed by a curved terrace of housing along the north-eastern perimeter of the site, providing a mix of affordable and private units.
