All shades of white in the new Kyiv apartment of the Vilchinskaya Design Bureau

Cozy, timeless, exactly the type of apartment that the studio designers wanted.

120 m² apartment for a couple living in London. The couple arrives in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, only to meet with their relatives. Therefore, the designers' task was to provide comfortable accommodation for several families.

The original layout involved a separate kitchen with a window and a long hallway with many doors on opposite sides. But as the apartment owners love to cook and receive guests, it was decided to combine the kitchen and the living room and highlight the dining area near large panoramic windows. Due to the fact that the entrance to the kitchen through the corridor was moved, a comfortable dressing room and a technical room were created in its place.

To protect the privacy of the common area, a row of flute glass sliding doors was designed, which allows light to pass through, but leaves the private space invisible.

The apartment is located in the historic center of Kiev, and the view from the windows towards Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a monastery that was discovered in 1051 and inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, became the leitmotiv of the design project. “We wanted to bring a little bit of classic, history and the city itself,” says Anastasiia Vilchinskaya, chief architect of the project, founder of Vilchinskaya Design Bureau.

At the entrance, above an onyx console, according to sketches of a slab, there is a black and white photograph of a famous photographer from Kiev, overlooking the Paton Bridge.

Natural stone, yellow metal, delicate stucco moldings, creamy walls and a minimal amount of decoration formed the design concept. The interior is based on rhythm and texture. The only active accent was the color of the wine, which diluted the spacious ambience of the rooms. Brighter and more active - the guest room, the De Majo Babol lamp gives a playful and retro atmosphere, the figurine above the bed - irony about modernity.

For the master bedroom, the bed and nightstands were made according to sketches, a vintage Chinese dresser was ordered from France, is hand painted and inlaid with stones. The master bedroom has its own large closet, which is combined with a bathtub and bathroom with shower. An illuminated onyx wall is a reminder of the eternity of natural materials, their long history and tactile sensations.

The room is equipped with the Italian brands Alf Italia and Gallotti & Radice, a CB2 armchair, LEDS C4 light, a bed in the Lema guest room, lamps and a table lamp are Pikart Lights and De Majo, respectively. The kitchen, as well as the bed and cabinets in the master bedroom, were made according to the sketches of the dresser designers.
