Embodied carbon

Efficient

The cabins use simple, everyday materials with an emphasis on durability, following the client’s informal request for buildings that require low maintenance. The primary material is pine treated using the Bitus Linax process, in which the boards are boiled in linseed oil to achieve long-term protection.

Each cabin has a three-dimensionally panelled timber facade and was assembled on-site. The compact 45-square-metre floor plans were studied to ensure the buildings were no larger than necessary.

No formal sustainability certifications or performance standards were part of the process.

Operational Emissions / Energy

Efficient

The cabins are connected to Halmstad Golfarena’s own solar installation located a few hundred metres from the site. This solar park supplies electricity to the cabins, the wider facility, and the vehicles used on the course.

Cabin layouts were developed to be efficient and large areas of glazing bring natural light into the interior.

The roofs are planted with a variety of sedum species, a system that typically offers additional insulation and supports rainwater attenuation.
