Embodied carbon overview

• The load-bearing structure is made exclusively from timber, a material that is produced on-site in the Kloboucká lesní production hall located approximately a hundred metres away from the headquarters.
• 283 cubic metres of glulam (BSH) are used for the load-bearing construction, larch terrace planks are used for terraces and galleries, and pine bio board for the floor — all supplied by Kloboucká lesní. Spruce bio board from Rubner is used for facade and interior cladding.
• Steel is used for wood connectors, as well as for load-bearing and supplementary construction. Concrete is used for the load-bearing slab, a rigid windproof core with staircase, floor, and basement.
• The project considers impacts associated with material production, transport, use, and end-of-life.

Operational emissions overview

• The building’s photovoltaic array produces enough energy to meet its requirements. The building has battery storage with a total capacity of 72 kW, with surplus energy directed to cover the energy requirements of the company’s production. The majority of electronic equipment in the compound is powered by solar energy. The photovoltaic panels also form part of the roof covering, with glass panels used on the northern side to allow daylight into the attic space.
• Rainwater from the roof is collected in open ponds and used for irrigation and cooling during the summer months. The water surface also reflects diffused daylight deeper into the building.
• Heating for the building and the wider area is provided by a central boiler house, using wood chips from the company’s own production as the main fuel source.
