Rand is a timber window system developed by Janošík as part of a broader exploration of minimal, integrated window design. Conceived as a refined wooden window typology, the system emphasises clean lines, concealed detailing, and the visual reduction of the frame to prioritise views and daylight.

The construction is based on solid timber frames, with options for all-wood, aluminium-clad, or all-glass external finishes. Internally, the windows are consistently expressed in wood, supporting continuity with timber interiors and structural elements.

Rand windows are often configured in combination with Janošík’s frameless “Noframe” system, allowing glazing to be set flush with the facade or deeply integrated into the building envelope. This approach enables a high degree of visual continuity, with opening elements designed to sit behind or within the structural layer so that only the glass surface remains perceptible.

From a sustainability perspective, the system draws on the inherent advantages of timber construction, including the use of a renewable material and the potential for long service life with appropriate maintenance. The reduction of visible framing and integration into the facade can also contribute to more compact build-ups, limiting the need for additional finishing layers. In application, the system is typically paired with high-performance glazing, supporting thermal efficiency and daylight optimisation within the building envelope.
