Accessible Masonry Gut Renovation

Complete gut-renovation of 1922 Horace Trumbauer-designed masonry colonial house. Complete wheelchair-accessible design included elevator and zero-step entry for all ground floor entrances, with site hardscape, drainage and integrated door details. New accessible kitchen designed with cabinetry created from felled maple tree from property. Passive house principles of continuous air sealing and continuous insulation were applied throughout. 6 kW solar array offset all-electric building energy usage. Sir‑George‑Étienne‑Cartier Park Bathers’ Pavilion

The new aquatic facilities in Sir George Étienne Cartier Park replace a 1960s pool complex at the heart of a century old urban square. The project introduces a bathers’ pavilion and a family of outdoor basins that renew the experience of swimming while fitting sensitively into the existing canopy of trees and the surrounding residential fabric. Knox Bhavan completes energy-efficient and accessible house using prefabricated timber cassette system

London-based architectural practice Knox Bhavan has completed an energy-efficient and accessible house for a client with particular physical requirements. Located on a lane in a village in Hertfordshire, England, “The Little Big House” utilizes a bespoke, prefabricated timber cassette system. Edmund Sumner The client, Henry Fraser, is a mouth artist, author, and motivational speaker. A life-changing accident in 2009 left Henry paralyzed from the shoulders down. In 2015, he taught himself how to paint by holding utensils in his mouth: an iPad stylus to start with and later, as his health improved, pencils and paintbrushes attached to a mouth stick. Mecanoo reveal their vision for a rebuilt Jacob’s Pillow Doris Duke Theatre

In Becket, Massachusetts, the new Jacob’s Pillow Theatre replaces the former Doris Duke Theater, which was destroyed in a fire in November 2020. LAAB Collective + Signature Design Communication propose a tactile streetscape in Montreal

Based in Montreal, Canada, Agora Maximus celebrates tactile urbanism through a modular streetscape installation designed by the Canadian creative studio LAAB  Collective and a multidisciplinary agency, Signature Design Communication (SDC). Columbia Elementary School Park Enhancement

Magnificent Ghent Altarpiece takes centre stage as part of Saint Bavo Cathedral Restoration

After years of scientifically based renovation, the world-famous Ghent altarpiece by the Van Eyck Brothers has been restored to its original state at Belgium’s Saint Bavo Cathedral.
