Completed in 2022 on the Garching campus of the Technical University of Munich, the "TUM Centre for Functional Protein Assemblies" (CPA) spans approximately 4,800 square metres and unites various scientific departments under one roof. We designed a flexible office environment on two floors in Berlin for the mobility start-up Mobimeo. The objective was to create an interior that supports an agile, individualised workflow while being adaptable to varying team sizes. ACTINCOMMON was tasked with the design and interior fit-out of an office space accommodating nearly 500 employees. Collaborating closely with the Corporate Real Estate department, we developed an innovative, modular office concept spanning six floors. By incorporating sustainable materials, biophilic design, and natural elements, we created vibrant, dynamic spaces that enhance employee well-being and creativity. We were approached by this shipping company as they had seen our work and wanted something different for their offices as well. During our first meeting we talked about the influence of Covid and how it would require a new work style. We talked about that the office expresses what a company stands for, that an office provides a sense of belonging to their employees which goes beyond the purely functional needs. As they had operated for over a year working mainly from home, they decided to reduce the size of their office space.
