An Educational Farm on the Roof
A new greenhouse and an educational pavilion transform the rooftop of Collège Flora Tristan into a productive and pedagogical urban farm.
Located atop a secondary school in Paris, the project supports the work of Veni Verdi, an urban agriculture association that cultivates fruits, vegetables, and flowers as part of the school’s educational program. The rooftop—originally intended as a school playground—already offered spatial qualities compatible with productive use. Through a participatory budget from the City of Paris, the project enhances this unique agricultural setting while embracing a frugal approach aligned with environmental and financial constraints.

Agricultural Building in Bromont
Located a short walk from a contemporary residence designed by Cimaise in 2011, this agricultural building extends the owners’ living project into the landscape, anchoring it in a simple volume set at the edge of the forest. It reprises the rigor and material palette of the neighboring house while asserting its own presence through the composition of a timber volume housing the garage and a long glazed greenhouse facing the view, its base marked by a corten steel planter.

La Raia Estate in Gavi by De Amicis Architetti: A Harmony of Architecture and Landscape
At the La Raia Estate in Gavi, Italy, De Amicis Architetti has restored and reimagined spaces within a traditional Italian farmstead estate, transforming it into an event and hospitality space specifically to host art events. Called the Borgo Merlassino event and hospitality venue, the project features expansive courtyards and open galleries that can accommodate both indoor and outdoor exhibitions. The project demonstrates that modern architecture does not have to be at odds with nature or tradition but can, instead, enhance the qualities of a place and create a harmonious relationship between human activity and the environment.

Alpine Flax Hut Conversion
This project entails the adaptation and extension of a heritage-listed flax threshing hut located in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps. The client brief required that the existing stone construction, dating back to the 18th century, be upgraded into a fully functional country home. In close dialogue with the local heritage authorities, a strategy was developed to keep the original building fabric as intact as possible while accommodating complementary functions in a new low-slung volume which at first glance is perceived as a separate and autonomous construction.

Low-energy home draws from careful study of local agricultural buildings
On a tranquil coastal setting in rural Hampshire, this single-storey, low-energy home blends into its site thanks to sensitive massing and incorporation of natural materials.
PAD Studio
A key inspiration for the design by PAD Studio was the architecture of local agricultural buildings. The structure, proportions and fenestrations of these buildings were all carefully studied in developing a contemporary design that is sympathetic to the past and present industry of the local region.
