MH CLINIC | Porto | 2024

The space, with about 6.00m of ceiling height, is integrated in a monotonous complex of shops in the eastern part of the city of Porto. Taking advantage of the available interior volume, the proposal is defined as a light box that rests delicately inside the pre-existing concrete box where soft materials contrast with the existing rough textures, constituting a discreet urban element, but with relevance in the surrounding set. Nelson Garrido Nelson Garrido Inspired by an authentic Japan and without folkloric elements, the proposal addresses fundamental issues of living and working in the city, such as space optimization, sustainability, ergonomics and poetry. Cerys' Palace in Crystal Palace

This project sits in the Church Road Conservation Area in Crystal Palace, South London and consists of a complete refurbishment of a beautiful, historic five-bedroom house and a rear extension.  Unlike with many other projects, the brief here was not to create more area but to enable the clients to fall in love with their home of 27 years again and to make better use of the existing space. This has been achieved by cutting down on circulation area, refurbishing existing bathrooms and moving some into new locations and by providing a more functional and generous kitchen with a new dining area that looks out onto the garden. Further to that we have also created a proper home office, in order to finally provide a nice, tranquil environme... More

Barossa Valley Estate Cellar Door

Designlnc Director, Richard Stafford, designed Barossa Valley Estate’s original facility in 1999. Twenty years on, the bones of the pavilion-style building were strong, with its stone spine wall, framed views of the Barossa ranges to the south-east and Marananga village to the north. However, the interiors needed refreshing and spaces lacked connection with their surrounds. DesignInc worked with landscape designer Paul Bangay to create a setting for the building where architecture and landscape are interwoven.   The visitor experience begins with a curving driveway that meanders through the landscape revealing and framing different views to create a sense of journey and arrival. An imposing stone wall at the end of the carpark... More

Tatuí Apartment

The main challenge of this project was to bring to the space, located in a central area of São Paulo, a house feeling, where the contact with nature can be always present. For this reason, the use of natural textures and the enhancement of natural lighting were chosen and light colors that contrast with the green present in the gardens are predominant.   With the renovation of the apartment, the social area has become a large living space for the residents. Kitchen, dining room, living room and TV are joined and directly connected to the apartment's garden. It is important to say that, if necessary, the kitchen can be isolated from the other environments by the pivoting glass doors that allow the passage of light but block the... More

Waranara Early Learning Centre

Located in the ever-evolving Green Square precinct, the Waranara Early Learning Centre provides much needed day care for young residents in the local community. The project involves the adaptive reuse of a heritage-listed outpatients building into a 74 place Early learning space. A complex brief as well as a sensitive client has resulted in a challenging project. Careful attention has been placed on the overall useability of the Centre resulting in a cohesive and robust design bridging old and new. The integrity of the existing building has been retained - breathing new life into the structure – and a contemporary wing housing the entry, playspace and wraparound verandah has been grafted onto the original shell.   This permeabl... Oreo House

The Oreo House is play of form, texture and contrast. Taylor Pressly Architects were engaged to design the interior of a new residential home designed by CLP Architecture. The spiral staircase with its smooth plaster finish cork-screwing from the lowest level of the house to the upper terrace becomes the central focus of the design. On either side of the stair at all levels are black textural box forms bookending the softness of the spiral, providing a contrasting composition as you circulate within the house.   With concrete floors and ceilings, softness and warmth are provided with use of American oak and 2pac matte-white cabinetry.   The front kitchen, with its concealed appliances and minimal cabinets, is for entertaining... There Cafe

Conceived as a shared meeting place, Gathered Cafe is an uplifting and authentic hospitality proposition harnessed by the strength of its architectural setting. Housed in a 19th-century wool store, the pared-back interior celebrates the site’s industrial character while softly layering new interventions; an evolution of its historic identity.   Starting with a vision to transform the iconic heritage building into a welcoming venue, the brief from the Gant’s (Pot & Pan, Gather & Tailor) was threefold; to honour the qualities of the warehouse, foster a sense of community and contribute to the surrounding mixed-use development.   The site’s grand, cathedral-like windows, raw steel columns and soaring 6-m... PAKTA Restaurant

In the Quechua language of Peru Pakta means “union”; in this case the union of two cultures and their respective cuisines . The interior design created by EL EQUIPO CREATIVO emerges from this same idea, considering that Japanese cuisine is the basis of the nikkei gastronomy but wrapped in Peruvian tastes, colours, traditions and ingredients. With this in mind, the basic elements of the restaurant such as the bars, the kitchen and the furniture are designed with a clear reference to the architecture of the traditional Japanese taverns.   An explosion of colours evocative of Peru envelopes the space. This chromatic “second skin” is achieved by use of a direct reference to the Peruvian loom, offering a surprising... More

Lewisham House

Lewisham House involved the full restoration of this classic Victorian Home to the highest level as a present-day, functional family home. The design process was a collaboration between RBA Architects and Sanders & King Interior designers.   The restoration and conversion of this unique Victorian house, involved a modern transformation of the dilapidated, heritage-listed house with an addition of a pool house/children’s room. We were to take it from a bygone Victorian era where the kitchen was the unseen, smallest element of the home and to create a contemporary environment for a family of 5, where the kitchen/living are the pivotal hub of the home.   The original home retained much of it’s prevailing layout, w...
