The proposal is developed on a plot located in the centre of the village of Sesimbra and is bordered to the north by a residential block and the Social Security office, to the east by Rua da Cruz, to the south by terraced houses and Largo Eusébio Leão, and to the west by Rua Amélia Frade. The award-winning architectural bureau Babayants Architects designed an aparthotel located on the seashore in Gagra, Abkhazia. Babayants Architects Tasks The customer, who is the owner of the Aquamarine Gagra hotel, purchased a neighboring rectangular plot of land. This plot is adjacent to the existing hotel on the north side and extends along the sea at the back. The architects were tasked with designing a complex consisting of 3 to 6 floors of hotel-type apartments.  The answer is a thorough renovation that lasted more than five years, but now the former Kesko headquarters is open again! 30.000 sqm host 185 new homes and a hotel. Among the very many challenges, a crucial one was the building's façade: protected by the cityscape authority but in so poor condition that it had to be completely demolished. We developed together with Wienerberger brick factory a whole new brick that would match the appearance of the demolished bricks with the most varied colors and burn marks. The suite houses were built on the lot of a former store from the 80s. Four of the houses are located on the „meadow“ - a green roof above the shops in the parterre of the building. The space between the individual houses offers views of the far horizons of the mountain meadows. The atmosphere among these houses is intimate but neighbourly. The roof garden covers commercial spaces and garages.The mountain town and ski resort Pec pod Sněžkou originated from the earlier original buildings in the valley, that expanded toward the surrounding hills.
