Oberer Schaltengarten Neuendettelsau

Design Concept: Harmonious Integration of Block Structure and Nature Objective This project aims to create an innovative neighborhood that merges urban density with the quality of surrounding natural spaces. A key focus is the establishment of a car-free community, supported by modern mobility solutions and centralized infrastructure. Yukón

Being located on a road of this nature faces particularities such as noise and visual pollution, which encouraged us to generate very specific architectural and structural solutions. The complexity and challenge of this project lie in the fact that it is located on the side of the Miguel Alemán viaduct on the corner of the small Yukon Street.  Camila Cossio - Jaime Navarro Camila Cossio - Jaime Navarro The building is developed as a slender volume of apparent concrete which integrates its columns as a façade, envelope, and dividing walls, making each square meter more efficient. The façade responds to a viaduct with the proposal of a double skin that is an irregular grid that changes randomly, creating a... More

Studio Razavi Architecture designs a Parisian apartment building that promotes urban densification

Paris-based Studio Razavi Architecture has completed 93 Petit, a residential apartment building in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Schnepp Renou Reflecting on the premise of 93 Petit, Studio Razavi comments: “Regardless of their size, all buildings in urban contexts contribute to the greater morphology that ultimately defines a city. The larger the project, the more the architect [is] under pressure to sensibly balance land use ratio and design.” To combat urban sprawl, cities are increasingly looking at ways in which to adopt planning policies that foster a greater degree of urban densification. This approach increases housing stock within a city and helps to reduce carbon emissions. Urban densification promotes the... More

Villa Paola

We wanted to build a very compact structure, which in itself is a sustainable gesture and helps to save energy without resorting to technology. Harald Wisthaler Yet the house should exude a certain dynamism, as if it were in motion. To achieve this, we designed fluid steel and glass balconies to complement the static cube. Harald Wisthaler Between the panes of glass we inserted sheets, which have an interesting effect: seen from the outside, they are grey and not transparent; seen from the inside, the glass sheets are much brighter and let in a lot of light. THE EPIC

The neighbourhood in which THE EPIC is located was originally characterised only by single-family homes. Today, the building is surrounded by an urban density of residential buildings. The scales of the existing houses and the new buildings collide. THE EPIC, although it provides 9 units of different sizes, contrasts with this problem in its villa-like appearance. With its articulated volumes and differentiated window openings, the building gives more the image of a family house rather than an apartment building. The refinement of the architecture is continued in the outer skin, from the detail of the window to the materiality of the brickwork. Again, the scale has been refined by the texture and colour of the thin tile. The resul... More

WAVES   Location: Savosa, Lugano, SwitzerlandBuilding area: 2570 sqmDate: 2015 – 2017 Unlike the usual modus operandi, we took over the Waves Residence at a later stage. We intervened in fact during the excavation work of a project commissioned by the client before entrusting us. For this reason we encountered a few project restrictions as far as the volumetric and the structure are concerned. Therefore we focused on other fundamental aspects: the joining of technique, aesthetics and context. The residence is located in an urban area marked by heavily congested access routes that are generating sources of sound waves; a problem that we solved by designing the appropriate shape and surface, following the principle according to... Greyfort House

Completed in December 2019, Greyfort House is a residential development of 8 units on a prominent corner plot in South Croydon. The challenge was to create a design that would successfully respond to the various urban conditions around the site. The building acts as an interface between the different scales and patterns of development surrounding it, whilst addressing the busy corner junction in a coherent and composed manner. Its form evolved through a contextual analysis of the scale, proportions, building lines, materials and architectural details of the surrounding streetscapes and was sculpted by the arising opportunities. We believe that this building is hopefully going to stand out as a landmark in the surroundings due to its strong design character More

13Chenar Residential

The 13Chenar residential project referred to us when the construction process was suspended due to the client dissatisfaction. The building was designed by bubble deck system which liberates the interior from structural elements and moved them toward the edges of slabs. They just finished the fourth slab when they asked us to revise their project. We refused to design just a simple facade and proposed a serious set of changes both in architecture and facade. Because of the imposed structural system limitation in making hollows, we decided to focus on the edges of the building and define a hierarchy from outside in. In order to do so, we designed all the units requirements in the space between the core and the shear walls and considered the l... More

VN Ferreira Lobo

Located near the office towers of Faria Lima in Sao Paulo, this 16-storey building by Studio Arthur Casas has a wide variety of typologies, with 88 units between 25 and 100 square meters. The client wanted a building that would break with the paradigms of the city's real estate market, used to simplistic solutions of mere application of restrictive laws, when more in small units. The innovative plan, unprecedented exercise for Studio, was designed from a module of 1.25m x 1.25m, with the rationalization of vertical circulations and shafts. Three typologies were created, then mirrored and distributed according to the plan's possibilities in its narrow terrain. The result is similar to a combinatorial analysis game of six modules in five dist... More
