041BÖT

A 76-square-metre flat in a loft conversion dating from the 1990s has been completely reimagined. Where rooms, woodchip wallpaper and laminate flooring once dominated, a spacious, light-filled living area now unfolds. The floor plan opens up seamlessly towards the long glazed frontage, uniting the kitchen, dining and living areas into a single, cohesive zone. Franz Grünewald Franz Grünewald Franz Grünewald Franz Grünewald Franz Grünewald The dark mahogany-veneered ceiling sets the tone, a material reminiscent of the 1960s that runs like a common thread through all areas. Together with a sand-coloured cast floor, this creates a calm, warm colour palette reminiscent of Japanese interiors. The... More

APARTAMENTO HIGIENÓPOLIS

When we started the Higienópolis Apartment project, we saw that it was an old and large apartment. However, due to the layout of the rooms, there were several small spaces. One of the main decisions in the architectural project was to open up the kitchen and one of the bedrooms to expand the living room. This doubled its space. As a central point of the integration between the kitchen and the living room, we designed a white quartz countertop with a wooden top that serves as a support for small meals. To integrate the living room, we suggested an island sofa that serves both the living room and the TV room. Thus, a comfortable environment for leisure and relaxation was created. apartamento vila mariana

This project proposes a contemporary reinterpretation of an older apartment, emphasizing integrated spaces, functionality, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The main intervention took place in the social area, where the demolition of the wall between the living room and kitchen completely transformed the apartment’s dynamics, creating an open-concept layout that enhances the sense of spaciousness, increases natural light, and encourages interaction between the environments. Guilherme Pucci Guilherme Pucci Guilherme Pucci Guilherme Pucci The flooring replacement was an essential part of this renovation. Grid and Color

A Renovation of an 1990s Athenian Apartment The renovation of this 90 sqm apartment by Iraisynn Attinom Architecture Studio reinterprets a typical 1990s flat for a millennial user, combining references from 90s aesthetics with Bauhaus geometric principles. The design is based on a neutral white shell with continuous wooden flooring, allowing color and geometry to define the spatial organization. iraisynn attinom iraisynn attinom iraisynn attinom The apartment is structured into three distinct zones, each defined by a dominant color. The blue zone includes the corridor and the bathroom, where small square tiles in blue and white create a continuous surface. In the bathroom, square glass bricks are used as a partition wall fo... UNPLANNED DOMESTIC PROTOYPE (PROT/USRBL/SE08)

Unplanned Domestic Prototype [PROT/USRBL/SE08] critically explores the transformative potential of a 60 m² apartment in a building constructed in 1966, as part of Spain's post-war 1959 Stabilization Plan. This plan prioritized minimal, standardized, compartmentalized housing to optimize “efficiency,” adhering to the nuclear family model. These apartments, marked by rigid, fixed spaces, reflected the ideals of the time, but the design is now limiting in the context of modern domestic needs. Hiperfocal Hiperfocal In response, Unplanned Domestic Prototype [PROT/USRBL/SE08] challenges these standardized principles and reimagines how living spaces in the 21st century can evolve. The project transforms the apartment in... More

Casa Wabi Sabi

A 1960s apartment in the heart of Reggio Emilia completely abandons its old spatial organization, transforming into a spacious open plan that makes room for light and airiness. The former living room, dining room, and entrance hall merge into a single large living area, accessible through three tall portals. CASA 2+1

In a 1950s residential complex in the urban core of Trieste, the project renovates a compact 60-square-meter apartment. The original layout—characterized by rigid compartmentalization and disproportionate room dimensions—proved difficult to adapt to contemporary living. At the same time, the apartment benefited from a favorable position that allowed generous natural ventilation and daylight, qualities that became the starting point for a more open and connected spatial organization. Davide Maria Palusa Davide Maria Palusa The intervention explores strategies for rethinking small-scale housing. Rather than radically altering the plan, the project works through precise adjustments that unlock spatial qualities already p... More

Long Flat

A Boston family with roots in Shanghai is looking to build their dream: own a little piece of Barcelona to retire to one day, and in the meantime, escape as much as they can. A home that will stand the test of time because they still have a long way to go before they can jump the train. Jose Hevia Blanch   Jose Hevia Blanch An office that barely remember having been a home was the chosen one... everything still to be done, almost nothing to recover except for a century-old sink in the kitchen, the Nolla mosaic hidden under carpets, and a few plaster moldings as dormant witnesses to the bourgeois splendor of this late 19th-century neighborhood, the Eixample. An Interior at Giomein Cervinia

co.arch’s project (Andrea Pezzoli and Giulia Urciuoli) in Cervinia is set within the Giomein complex, designed by Mario Galvagni and completed in 1972 on the homonymous promontory, overlooking the Breuil basin and the profile of the Cervino. Conceived during the peak expansion of Alpine tourism—new ski runs, cableways, infrastructure and holiday residences—Giomein interprets the mountain not as scenery but as a morphological and perceptual system against which architecture chooses to measure itself. Francesca Iovene The intervention concerns a domestic interior on the fourth and fifth floors, commissioned by a couple of art collectors. The apartment preserved a strongly defined decorative universe: jacquard fabrics a... More

Ponna & Jay's

The client's brief was clear: they wanted their apartment made into a contemporary, uncluttered space that felt soft to the eye. With a particular fondness for lighting, they encouraged us to explore innovative ways to illuminate the home. Kavin La Sa We responded by designing interior units with built-in lighting that acted as ambient light sources, softly washing the spaces with a gentle glow. Statement lighting fixtures were also carefully curated and styled across the apartment to create focal points and highlight select corners. Kavin La Sa A mild pastel colour palette was chosen to complement the mood lighting—beiges, sandals, fawn tones, sage greens, and powder blues were layered thoughtfully across the apartment&rs... CASA EMME

In the heart of Trieste, within an early twentieth-century building, the project transforms an apartment whose original layout remains legible, reinterpreting its logic to accommodate contemporary living. Davide Maria Palusa The existing plan—three rooms in sequence, a separate kitchen and fragmented service areas—reflected a highly compartmentalized domestic model. The intervention works through processes of reconnection, identifying key points of transformation along the circulation spine. Davide Maria Palusa The primary gesture is the opening between kitchen and living room, establishing a new social and spatial core. Here, the central island acts as both functional and relational anchor, while a system of walnut... More

Ki Residence

A wall is also a door. A 360-degree turnstile is the heart of our design, transforming the home into a changing medley of spaces. When closed, the wall blends into a shade of pink. With a slow dramatic turn, the spaces beyond are revealed. Now a maroon shelf and its contents are in full display. Ong Chan Hao Ong Chan Hao Challenged by the client’s brief to create connected but separated spaces, we re- interpreted the function of a wall that is usually a static and permanent delineation of boundaries. Between the kitchen and living room, the existing glass partition is replaced with a marble portal to create an open and permeable space, while still highlighting the transition between functional and social.
