Shop to flat

An abandoned commercial space in a lively Lisbon neighborhood, Campo de Ourique, was transformed into a compact flat with a small backyard. A red metal grid was added to the existing storefront, creating a protective yet porous threshold that mediates between the street and the interior. Just behind it, a wall of glass blocks allows natural light to get in while preserving privacy — softening the transition from public to domestic space. It’s not uncommon to find the client sitting just inside the open door, reading a book or enjoying a coffee — a quiet moment held between the rhythms of the home and the city. Wharf 78

Andy Matthews Studio transforms a small apartment in East London into a cool, calm and collected New York loft-style home. On the second floor of a listed former wharf building in the historic riverside district of Wapping, the 55 m2 one-bedroom apartment was poorly planned with a lot of wasted space and an unwelcoming interior. The client-architect collaboration realises the home’s potential by thoughtfully reworking the layout, transforming flow and maximising light and space while reinstating character and reframing the apartment to suit the client’s lifestyle. © Jim Stephenson Unlocking the plan was vital to making the most of the dark, compact home. The design intelligently reworks the layout, replacing the... More

In this case, they span from floor to floor, adding character to the balconies and the building. Del Rio Bani More

Social housing apartments in Viladecans

The site is unfortunately placed under the effect of three completely different urban plans. This means that the plot has conflicting parameters and it needs to be reevaluated in order to solve these conflicts. Therefore the project starts with a specific modification of the urban plan to adjust the urban parameters, the building's density and its uses. Pedro Pegenaute Pedro Pegenaute The building, with facades on two different streets, solves the different hight parameters established for each street by splitting the building in two separate entities using an inner passage from which you can access the buildings. Aviator

Back in the 1950s’, a residential area sprang up on the site of the former airport in Novosibirsk. DPS Apartments

The building’s design is an exploration based on the traditional housing complexes and typologies of del Valle neighborhood in Mexico City; an urban layout where the street blocks feature pan coupé corners that create broad intersections.
