Architecture competition

For this project, we were tasked with expanding a house originally designed by renowned architect Donald Knorr in the 1960s. Our clients wanted to enlarge the kitchen, dining area, and master bedroom, while also adding a family room, entertainment space, and an additional bedroom. However, we replaced the A-frame master suite and kitchen/dining areas with new, contemporary volumes that enhance both efficiency and functionality. The proposed Museum of Science in Rome is a dynamic hub for science, architecture, and nature, designed as a levitating structure that restores urban space to the city. By lifting the building, we create an open-air plaza - a vibrant social and learning hub for all ages. A transparent, porous volume connects the suspended museum to the city, housing an auditorium, research spaces, and exhibitions, all linked by a glazed atrium and grand ramp. A public theater offers free screenings, while a rooftop garden with panoramic views transforms the skyline, creating a new urban landmark. The Museum of Architecture & Design in Helsinki is a permeable cultural hub, seamlessly integrating arts, crafts, and learning while respecting the urban and maritime context. Inspired by stacked breakwaters, its design features an elevated gallery, a sloped workshop, and a waterfront restaurant, creating dynamic spaces for social interaction. Multiple entry points ensure transparency and inclusivity, while a south-facing ramp and winter garden offer panoramic views and year- - round events. A library for the city of Songdo in South Korea is conceived of as a place for the city to congregate around Knowledge, Culture and the Community. Occupying a tight footprint of a 50m x 50m square, the cultural functions at the base are sunk into the earth while the soaring City Loft with the Children's Library and the General Public Library looks over the sea as a place for the pursuit of knowledge, in silence and at ease. The Pavilion for All  was designed to be an inclusive space for the community, from all backgrounds, ages and gender. The building celebrates equality expressed with the circle as a symbol for unification; a building with no fronts and no backs, responding democratically to all directions of the park.  The programme is arranged around an intimate courtyard; a tranquil alternative to the active playing fields of the park. This entrance wants to be simple, attractive, functional, intimate and at the same time abstract and original. Its designers don't want to tell the story of the revelation or its creation, and allow the work to communicate with its audience in its effective language and even embrace them to take selfies together. Designers also used the term "design considerations" instead of imaginative concepts to say that they designed with precision, creativity, realism, foresight, and responsiveness. The new Losbates school is an opportunity to give the community of Louňovice, Štíhlice, Babice, Thovec and Svojetice a new magnet center for social interaction, where learning, arts and sports share common grounds in a dynamic and interactive way. The organic shapes of both the individual function volumes as well as the central ring connecting them, allows for flawless circulation, guaranteeing inclusiveness of all parts into a single, new cultural hub. The Barilla Pavilion is conceived as a multi-level stage where agriculture and visitors interact in a dynamic exchange. Inspired by both nature and industrial production, the design elevates fields into stacked planes, creating a vertical journey through open-air crops, greenhouses, and exhibition spaces. By revealing the hidden processes of food production, the pavilion breaks away from traditional industrial architecture, exposing the relationship between people, machines, and raw materials. The new Mali Contemporary Art Museum welcomes the community to experience art, architecture, and nature in harmony. Designed to respect the historic museum, it integrates seamlessly into the landscape through a subtle intervention - a "slit" in the earth, inspired by Lucio Fontana’s slashed paintings. Echoing the existing museum’s courtyard, the design creates a protected gathering space, open to both the city and park, leading to an underground museum via a gently sloping accessible plaza. The new public library in Varna is a permeable cultural container, an incubator for social interaction. As a vertical urban plaza, it gathers visitors of all ages in an open and inviting environment. Through a seamless blend of interior and exterior, visitors are able to move deep into the building without loosing connection with the surrounding city. Staggered volumes containing traditional library programs, such as areas for individual concentration and areas for socialization, float within a permeable envelope to create open spaces, both indoor and outdoor, for social interaction. The new Art Museum and Cultural Quarter in Kristiansand is a place that invites the community and the visitors to participate and experience art, architecture and nature at once. Situated in Odderoya peninsula between the park, the heritage Silos and the seafront, the museum creates an outdoor gathering space for people along the waterfront and visually re-establish the relationship between the land and the water. This is achieved by reducing the grain silo to its 1935 original design, therefore creating a seamless connection between the waterfront and the hill.
