The Barilla Pavilion is conceived as a multi-level stage where agriculture and visitors interact in a dynamic exchange. Inspired by both nature and industrial production, the design elevates fields into stacked planes, creating a vertical journey through open-air crops, greenhouses, and exhibition spaces. By revealing the hidden processes of food production, the pavilion breaks away from traditional industrial architecture, exposing the relationship between people, machines, and raw materials.

Visitors experience crops and cultivation at multiple levels, navigating through vertically stacked thin slabs designed to accommodate various soil depths. This light, open structure fosters a three-dimensional exploration, seamlessly connecting each field while maintaining its distinct identity. The circulation path parallels the horizon, offering shifting perspectives of the landscape, while shaded areas below the raised fields house the Barilla art collection.
More than a building, the pavilion envisions a future of vertical agriculture, responding to land scarcity by minimizing footprint while maximizing growth. The deep voids between layers create a sense of transparency and lightness, forming an iconic structure that embodies Barilla’s mission of harmony between human and nature.
