Apartment ZM

Transforming an existing home means working with a context that already has its own structure, materials and history. In Apartment ZM, designed by architect Anna Paszkowska-Thurow from ANNA THUROW Architecture and interiors studio, the challenge was to adapt a 118-square-metre, two-level apartment for a mother and daughter returning to their family home. The project focused on balancing continuity and change — preserving what was valuable while adapting the interior to their contemporary needs. Anna Paszkowska-Thurow The most significant transformation took place in the living area. The kitchen was completely redesigned to create a more ergonomic layout, with extended worktops, increased storage and an additional space for infor... More

Dynamic House

The project “Dynamic House,” curated by Arch. Ada Garaffa in Via G. A. Cartia in Ragusa, redefines a private terraced house through a progressive interior transformation that treats space, light, and material as components of a single continuous architectural system. Ph Enrico Cascone Ph Enrico Cascone Ph Enrico Cascone Ph Enrico Cascone Ph Enrico Cascone The intervention focuses exclusively on the interior of the existing building, leaving the external envelope unchanged. Within this constraint, the project addresses the challenge of reinterpreting a conventional residential layout into a more fluid and perceptually rich domestic environment. Rather than reorganizing spaces in a purely functional way,... More

Ascendente House

The Ascendente House was conceived from a reading of the voids between existing trees, adopting an approach of careful insertion and preservation. Its massing is organized in levels that follow the site, establishing a clear hierarchy between social, private, and service areas, while keeping the house continuously connected to the garden and vegetation.  Luisa Lage The main entry occurs at ground level, where living room and kitchen form a single integrated space. This area works as the core of circulation and daily life, with openings oriented toward the interior of the lot, encouraging filtered views, cross-ventilation, and a direct relationship with the landscape design. Also on this level, two guest suites are accessed from a... More

Casa Entre Encinas

A rural building reborn as a home that’s in tune with nature, where past and present coexist. Among the open fields and oak groves of the Guadalajara countryside, an old agricultural warehouse is converted into a home. Casa Entre Encinas builds on what already exists, keeping the original materials and character, to create a new way of living, in tune with the environment and its rhythms. Visualization: ERENTIA The project is based on a sensitive reading of the context: a Castilian landscape of slowness and permanence, where the natural rhythm dictates everyday life. Far from imposing itself, the architecture adapts to the relief and history, inserting itself in a secluded position within the complex of buildings to connect... More

Caulfield South Residence

Project Brief This alteration and addition reimagines an Art Deco semi-detached home in Caulfield South. The aim was to honour the charm of the original 1930s structure while introducing thoughtful spatial planning, contemporary materials, and a stronger connection to the garden, all within a compact footprint and modest budget. Crucially, the design sought to introduce character, make the home feel special, and uncover its magic despite budget constraints. Hedya An Architects What was once a two-bedroom, one-bathroom home lacking a dedicated dining area and backyard connection has been transformed to include three bedrooms, a main bathroom, ensuite, study, laundry, mudroom, and generous dining and living spaces. Upon entry, an immed... More

Cleft House

Situated in a distinguished urban context, Cleft House emerges as a refined architectural response to its surroundings, engaging with the city’s density and scale while deeply responding to the local climate. The design leverages light, voids, and materiality as foundational elements, shaping both the spatial experience and the house’s relationship to the environment. The voids are not merely aesthetic but serve as dynamic spaces that mediate between the interior and exterior, between privacy and openness, while also playing a crucial role in environmental regulation. City Housing

The first 20-storey residential building in Lviv. Its plastic model takes into account the heights and building lines of the existing Chornovil Avenue, which is formed of modernist buildings of 10 and 17 floors. Marina Grynykha Marina Grynykha Marina Grynykha The highlight of the project is the consideration of the urban context before the design began, when the authors drew attention to the importance of the existing pedestrian passage used by local residents to reach public transport stops. Therefore, an accent appeared in the building – a front passage formed in the body of the building, with a colonnade that can be associated with Greek propylaea. OxA Residence

Architecture is more than building; it is a reflection of culture, emotion, and intention. In designing OxA Residence , our approach was guided by a deep commitment to human-centered living, environmental sensitivity, and the creation of meaningful connections-between people, between spaces, and with nature. In a rapidly expanding city like Tirana, where modern life leaves little time for pause, people have slowly lost their sense of connection. They have forgotten the importance of stopping, breathing, and simply being. That sense of belonging and comfort-only a true home can offer. As architects, we take it as our responsibility to deliver exactly that. Caption Caption From its open, human-centered design to its commitment to pu... More

Williamsburg Townhouse

Our transformation of the Williamsburg Townhouse residence brought warmth into a once-sterile, newly developed property. Kaeo Place

Many people were horrified by the destruction of the wildfires that burned most of Lahaina in 2023. We were approached by homeowners to help them re-build their burned out properties. One of those properties is on the edge of town, on a small street of other singe family homes needed to be rebuilt. With rule changes to the zoning code in Lahaina, we can now offer more ADUs and other smaller dwelling options than before. The design of the new residence at Kaeo Place offers a larger single family residence at the front, and a smaller double ADU unit in the rear. The danger of the amount of new built square footage was that the home would read as overbearing and commercial. Caption To help offset that concern, the front entry is differen... More

Civano Multi-Residence

Within the new urbanist development of Civano, one of the last undeveloped lots was purchased with the hopes of providing housing for multiple persons. We worked with the city and the neighborhood to design a ‘non’ duplex: a residence with a primary and secondary but technically not a true duplex. Caption The design needed to ensure a nice home for each occupant, but when viewed from the street, the building looked, and felt, like a single family home. The smaller residence enables more spacious living by utilizing a spiral staircase to the second level bedroom and bathroom. Caption This allows for soaring ceilings from the first floor kitchen and dining area. A new front porch ties the modern stucco exterior walls i... More
