Just one block from the iconic Ermita park in Mérida, Yucatán, this house presented a unique design challenge: how to work with an existing structure that had undergone a past renovation which erased much of its colonial character. Instead of reverting to a false historicism, we embraced the layers of time and opted for a reinterpretation that honors both the colonial essence and a bold, contemporary vision. The Altamira House is located in the city of Zapopan and began as an expansion project of a residence, but grew with the opportunity to acquire the neighboring property. The façade of the house is hidden from the street to create its own interior atmosphere, envisioned by our clients as a space for learning and family enjoyment. The program consisted of creating a separate funeral chapel from the rest of the chapels in what used to be a parking lot. Therefore,it was decided to take advantage of the building's structure and create three significant moments. ConceptLocated in the center of the “Madre Tierra” field, a place of orange, avocado, and lemon crops, where one beholds the mountains’ profile and the greenery of Montemorelos, Nuevo León. This project was born of a spiritual need: build a reflection space for the family and the community. The spirituality, men’s intimate dimension, calls for a respectful and perceptive architectural approach. The in-depth study of Christian liturgy and the northeastern countryside founded the design process of this project. Located in the west side valley of Mexico City, Casa Tolu is a beautiful family residence nestled in a deep glen surrounded by trees and endemic vegetation. We are currently experimenting with an eco-friendly Green concrete basement that separates the upper living floor and access areas from the private quarters. The project is located in the town of Ajijic, Jalisco. A resting place with one of the most pleasant climates in the world, thanks to its proximity to Lake Chapala and the shelter provided by the northern hills. The name of La Piedad alludes to the city of La Piedad, Michoacán and pain like Michelangelo's Pietà. On a plot of 10 meters wide by 35 meters deep, equal to the proportion of the Gilardi house by Luis Barragán, and with a topography with a drop of 3 meters, the house is articulated through patios that emerge from the basement dividing the areas public and private house. Located in Ciudad del Carmen, the comprehensive project of Kanam Balam includes within its program, the construction of ecological cabins, which in its planning will integrate rest and recreation areas that will interconnect all the cabins to encourage the interaction of visitors as a community and at the same time its interaction with the natural environment. The distribution of the cabins will be divided into 3 areas, which will contain 5 modules of two cabins as shown in the illustration. “Winter House” is a single residential unit whose main goal is being a shelter and a setting for the enjoyment of the land property’s pristine privileged nature, such as the outdoors and the country lifestyle. In 2009, in the southern zone of Yucatán, in México, a group of young students, sons and daughters of Mayan farmers belonging to the rural community of Dzán, whose economic support consists mainly in the farming of citrus, moved by their “change their world” reckless enthusiasm, took the action into working together through science and culture with the purpose of inspiring the most vulnerable sector of the population: children and young adolescents, whose school dropout, substance abuse rates and lacking of vocation were rising.
