Brief Our task was to create an exceptional home for a family, located in a tranquil pine forest along the river. The modern and minimalist house utilizes natural materials that harmonize with the surroundings. A house for a couple and their sons is located on a linear site within a quiet residential community, the form of the house unfolds to envelope a generous garden court within. This project was to be a house for a family with greatly different ideas about what constitutes a house. One parent dreaming of a strikingly modern aesthetic, the other of a traditional house with a sloping roof, and with respect for the rules of Feng Shui. ZEST architecture had to find a way to interpret both these views and create a house that would feel like a home for the entire family. Located on one of the highest hills of the Valley, the site commands a magnificent view of the Himalayan range. As a part of a bigger hospitality development, the Leaf includes 20 branded villas that will be managed by an international operator. Concealed within a dense forest, the arrangements of buildings are placed strategically to reduce environmental impacts while maximizing the views, privacy and sunlight. The main drive meanders through the site, providing access to individual buildings and finally culminating at the clubhouse located at the highest point.
