A small compact 1600sft, 3bedroom flat was to be designed to cater the needs and aesthetics for three generations and three couples living in. The challenge was to incorporate the exhaustive and diverse functional requirements with coherent aesthetic details. We visualized and choose to speak a language of minimalistic and neutral toned space and let the furniture to do the speaking in terms of the vibe and pops of the space.

The client’s brief was to design a shopping complex on a very prominent and busy road in a tight urban site in Gandhi Nagar near railway station and Bus stand, Bangalore. The challenge was attracting and offering an experience of sophisticated street shopping to various genre of people, from villager to an urban dweller. As al lot of tier 2, tier 3 and villagers move around in the area for their shopping needs. Satisfying the retail experience was main criteria. The fact that due to massive urban development in last two decades, the green cover of city has depleted drastically. While we believe that density can, and many times must be seen as a form of sustainability, we also admit that the relationship between habitation within an old urban fabric and the increase of its density is often a fragile one, as places might lose their character. Our project seeks an appropriate answer to this problem by mediating between different sizes and densities in a central neighbourhood of V.V Puram with small streets, long, narrow plots, and a puzzle of old and new buildings of all types and scales.

The Tranquil apartment is located at the end of the food street, in V.V Puram, Bangalore. The structure is strategically layered between the residential locality and the ever bustling and lively food street. The area adorns a contemporary character from the contrasting old colonial structures and temples.
The design team wanted the characteristic of the surrounding area to be portrayed in the façade. The inside out façade allows the inmates to be in ode with nature. The structure accommodates guest dining areas in the lower floor and managerial staff quarter’s in the upper level. The client’s brief was to build a contemporary and aesthetic façade but the budgets were shoe string tight.
