Bicycle parking

This project consists of the conditioning and adaptation of the industrial buildings next to the company 'Toque', on which they want to expand their production. We want not only to adapt this relevant environment of the urban center of Novelda but also the creation of a brand image for a centenary company, which exports botanicals and spices around the world. Born at the end of the 19th century, the company maintains strong links with local Modernism. One of the largest bicycle parking garages in the Netherlands has been built underneath the Koningin Julianaplein in The Hague, right in front of the Central Station. Silo developed a powerful spatial concept that transforms parking your bike into a museum-like experience. The unconventional result enhances comfort and safety for the thousands of daily users. The extra high, bright white ceiling, smart directional markings, spacious aisles, and back-lit glass walls create an unexpectedly impressive experience and an exceptional level of quality. A new building at the end of the new 'Belle-Vue' park between the railway line and Kessel-Lo. A kink in the building creates an elegant shard shaped volume, to which the rhythmically staggered façade elements add their own playful aspect. Indoor terraces on the railway side add depth to the façade, while large windows at the ends of the buildings open them up. Four façades, each with its own character but connected by the rhythm of the panels. The finely detailed green acidified concrete combines with bronze carpentry to create a stylish whole that matches the green park strip. A clever system of slopes forms the base of a bicycle parking that is both comfortable and efficient. Right in front of Amsterdam Central Station, in the dense and protected inner city environment, a temporary storage was commissioned for 2500 bicycles. To comply with all restrictions, a slender, self-standing structure is built in the water along the quay. The continuous ramps along which the bicycles can be stored make for a very functional organisation, while adding quality to the experience of the users. After comfortably cycling up, rather than walking and pushing one’s bike, all efforts are rewarded with a belvedere over the city. The transformation of the Utrecht Station Area is in full swing. Restructuring both infrastructure and urban layout aims for connecting the east and west side of the tracks in an obstacle-free manner. The new Station Passage, and the new Rabo-bridge will literally bridged this physical barrier caused by the railway tracks. With a stepped rooftop landscape and two 50-meter-tall vertical accents, The Cube student housing complex forms a landmark in Overvecht and a discernible feature in the Utrecht skyline. In redeveloping this area of the central city and creating a project brief, local government bodies prioritised ‘healthy urban living’. The resulting design reflects a firm focus on these principles.
