Coeur Tagesbar

How to maximize the use of limited space? Both conceptually and visually, differential growth is used as a key element in the bistro. The growth pattern follows a clear mathematical system, even when it appears to be random. This system is based on an algorithm modeled after natural occurrences and simulated using parametric software. The mathematical understanding of growth evolution was used not only for the light installation as the centerpiece, but also for smaller artifacts located on both floors. A similar idea is applied to the interior cladding around the counter. Random patterns or streaks in vivid color variations are created through the chromatization of steel panels, making the contours of the space disappear. MHA -Martino Hu... More

Goldener Papagei

Belgrade. When Zlatni Papagaj („Golden Parrot“) – the first all’italiana coffee bar in the city – opened its doors in 1979, its great success began to pave the way for Italian coffee culture and lifestyle in the former federal capital of Yugoslavia.   David Schreyer David Schreyer Following many examples in Trieste, the interior was reduced to the essentials — only a single bar made of metal stands out as the centerpiece of the venue: the coffee machine. Seating areas were left out completely. Almost four decades later, Nathan Spacić – son of the original founder – is paying tribute to the place that was a symbol of lightness and joy of life for its guests, by realizing his v... More

Platan Tata

When it came to renovating a beloved property sitting beside an old royal castle, understanding the strengths that are available and empowering those inherent values to distil them down to their most core fundamentals was at the centre of the concept. The Platan, located beside the tranquil Old Lake in Tata, Hungary, has been renewed and reinvigorated by this very understanding. What was once a humble but reputed eatery built into the servant’s quarters of the Esterhazy family’s estate next to the royal castle, has now been transformed into a gastronomic landmark with renowned chef, Istvan Pesti, placed at the heart of the idea. With this heritage literally on the doorstep of the Platan, Gold Key award-winning designer Zoltan Va... More

H O R A bistro

There was there a buffet with tradition at lunchtime. A pleasant little square, parodaxally surrounded by modest housing, with balconies ornamented by the prosaic habits of the locals, shared by Chef Miguel Reis. A landscape of habits is not enough for the restless spirit and the aspiration of the food lovers - to welcome, to serve and delight.   We found two uncharacteristic commercial spaces, cleaned in white, with a rectangular plant. Thus, animated by half a dozen bucolic motives. Only a diagonal extension hid the toilets. Empty, devoid of intention, this is the image I retain of it.   There was no budget for adjectives, the only possible one was “worthy”. Dignity is the quality of what is honest, appropriate a... bistro La vie

For a casual French bistro, an interior design with comfort and a proper sense of tension was pursued. Only materials such as brass, thick solid wood, and antique scaffold planks – those that would have enhanced characteristics as they age – were used for finishes. Brass was used as eye-catchers for lights, hanger pipes, furniture knobs and handles, window frames, decorative screws, etc., in order to provide gorgeousness to the interior. The antique scaffold planks add a casual atmosphere to the space, preventing it from being too sophisticated. A cave-like space with a table is not completely isolated, yet blocks views from other tables and creates a comfortably enclosed feeling. The solid walnut bar table is for both cookin... More

Tel Aviv Urban Food

In 2010, the already legendary Tel Aviv restaurant in Poznańska Street in Warsaw was blazing a trail on the vegetarian map of Warsaw by serving Israeli cuisine dishes. On 1st March 2017, the first chain restaurant saw daylight. We had the pleasure to design it together with Michał Kempiński. The restaurant brings to mind memories from a journey to Israel – warm evenings on boulevards as well as strolls in Jaffa’s Old City nooks until morning. The interiors offer an open, relaxed atmosphere, referring to the Middle Eastern hospitality, yet without directly quoting any elements of traditional constructions or architecture. The key element of the interior is the wall finished with clay plaster, whose shade of colour and texture r... More
