Black and white

We are an architect couple. In a large, crowded city like Tehran, our work involves designing and supervising building projects; a pleasant yet full-time and demanding job. We always wanted to build a space for ourselves to spend our weekends away from the busyness of work and thoughts, or to rest a bit there after delivering each project. A place to refresh our minds and bodies, and a space for loving and living together. A place different from our studio or even our apartment, but as simple and logical as ourselves and our architecture. A familiar, intimate, comfortable, white space. Anthos was born from the desire to achieve a design that simultaneously takes advantage and enhances the architectural features of the space.The original space consisted of a single tunnel-shaped room divided into four squared bays with vaulted ceiling. The concept envisions the division of space into two functionally different zones:The first three bays host the clothing display while the last bay contains a mirroring wall, the cashier desk and the accessories display as a background of the composition.Furniture seizing focuses on a geometric module based on the subdivision of the bay into three parts.Lighting represents an important part of the project. The apartment is at the top of a building in the city centre of Genoa. It underwent a total refurbishment that pointed out the sloping roof, previously hidden by a plasterboard false ceiling, giving to the rooms a peculiar vertical extent. The wide rooms are separated by large sliding doors and the whole apartment is characterized by the pure white floor in Lasa marble. Also the fixed furniture are white varnished and the walls and ceilings are painted white, too. That produces a total white space and all the objects seem to float in it. More

White and Blacklike the colours of Kuřim,like counterparts that complement each other,like a ball,like a game...The sports hall is another piece in the mosaic of a gradually expanding sports complex in Kuřim. Since the sports arena is approximately in the centre of this promising area, the architects strove to design a building whose look reflects its purpose: it is a playful and eye-catching building that will become the symbol of the entire complex.
