Modern Minds with MUSC Health
An innovative mental health and wellness center, Modern Minds with MUSC Health provides treatment for adults who are struggling with mental wellness, as well as those who are seeking growth in their personal and professional lives. The 3,400 SF renovation includes check-in and waiting areas, private waiting area, consult rooms, group therapy room, observation room, and both private and open offices.

The design was crafted to create a soothing environment to reduce stress and remove the stigma of receiving mental health services. LS3P provided schematic planning, construction documents, and interior design, including structural finishes, furniture, and artwork.

Santos Apartment
Santos apartment was undertaken for a young couple in their late 20’s. They requested a timeless, elegant and serene home. The 1950’s apartment is located in the trendy neighborhood of Jardins, São Paulo. The renewal of it’s 120sqm was designed to integrate the living space fully, while clearly defining three different functions: kitchen, living room and home office, whose rhythm is given by a thoughtful sequence of volumes and voids.

Inscape Meditation Studio
INSCAPE, a new meditation concept, opened in Manhattan 2016. Archi-Tectonics designed the Inscape concept not only as a one-off, but also for worldwide distribution. The first PROTO space in Chelsea occupies a large 6000sf ground floor. The space contains a set of large volumes; ellipsoid meditation spaces; a “Dome Room” and an “Alcove room”, an extensive retail space, as well as a lounge for guests. An important element of healthy living is found in lifestyle changes, meditation and ‘cleaner’ live-work environments. When developing the Inscape meditation concept, prefab construction, renewable materials, such as bamboo, linen and cardboard, became the driver of the spatial configueration.

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Medical Behavioral Unit
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Medical Behavioral Unit, the first of its kind in the nation, is an enhanced pediatric inpatient unit for patients who require not only an inpatient stay, but also have a behavioral diagnosis to consider.
Metcalfe was charged with creating an environment that would be both playful and calming, since some of the patients treated here can be overwhelmed by certain visual stimuli. Research shows that biophilic imagery can be calming in healthcare settings. Therefore, it was a natural fit for use in the wayfinding and graphic elements throughout the unit. More
