Architect Jan Říčný of Prague-based RCNKSK on the construction of Our Lady of Sorrows chapel
Our Lady of Sorrows chapel in Nesvačilka, a village in Brno-Country District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic, is inspired by medieval construction methods. Designed by Prague-based architectural studio RCNKSK, the chapel’s form combines a traditional approach with modern technological capabilities. Built from hand-hewn beams, an intricate wooden lamellar structure, stone, and rammed earth, Our Lady of Sorrows chapel stands as a noble yet modest village landmark.

San José Chapel
ConceptLocated in the center of the “Madre Tierra” field, a place of orange, avocado, and lemon crops, where one beholds the mountains’ profile and the greenery of Montemorelos, Nuevo León. This project was born of a spiritual need: build a reflection space for the family and the community.
The spirituality, men’s intimate dimension, calls for a respectful and perceptive architectural approach. The in-depth study of Christian liturgy and the northeastern countryside founded the design process of this project. Dresden’s Haus der Kathedrale enhances historic building fabric in the spirit of sustainability and resource conservation
In close proximity to Dresden’s Stallhof (Stable Yard) and Residenzschloss (former Royal Palace), Haus der Kathedral is a former chancery house in the centre of city’s Old Town. Listed as a ‘cultural-historical centre’ following its 1997 reconstruction, this latest intervention by Alexander Poetzsch Architekten enhances the existing building fabric while reorganizing and expanding various operational uses and opening the house towards the City Centre.
