Museo della Luce

The Museum of Light is a Spatial Work by Fausto Ferrara conceived in Pucón, Chile. The project does not treat light as a subject to be represented or as a scenographic effect. Light becomes a constructive material of architecture: it participates in the generation of form and makes perceptible the relationship between body, space, matter and time. Water, sky and landscape are not a background to the building. They enter into the construction of the Work through reflections, openings, thresholds and variations of light, continuously transforming the perception of space. Architecture does not simply separate interior and exterior; it establishes a condition in which the boundary itself becomes a place of relation. Matter acquires pr... More

3c2c

Located on the southern shore of Lake Rupanco in southern Chile, the 3C2C House is a single-family residence designed to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings. The project is composed of three elongated volumes connected by two enclosed corridors—hence the name “3C2C” (3 Casas, 2 Conectores). This configuration preserves the openness of the site, framing lake and mountain views while reducing the building’s visual impact. © Nico Saieh © Nico Saieh © Nico Saieh © Nico Saieh The first volume contains the double-height social area—including kitchen, dining, and living spaces—with large windows oriented toward the lake and the Andes. The second volume hosts th... More

Volcanoes Pavilion

ContextThe pavilion is located on the southern shore of Lake Llanquihue, on former grazing land with open views toward the Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. The site retains traces of rural use—clearings, pathways, fences—intertwined with regenerating vegetation. This overlap of natural landscape and productive memory forms the project’s foundation. Surca BriefThe commission called for a communal structure incorporating children's play areas, a barbecue zone, and rest spaces, with a restrained architectural language and low environmental impact. Surca Design StrategyThe proposal operates across three complementary scales: At the territorial scale, two red beams frame the volcanoes and define the primary axis. S... More

MUMO - Puerto Octay Motorcycle Museum

We were commissioned to design a museum to house the country’s largest collection of antique motorcycles, prior to the corporate dominance of the scene in the 1970s. Marcos Zegers The selected site is a large plot on the outskirts of the small city of Puerto Octay, adjacent to the Cardenal Samoré border crossing into Argentina and part of the famous Pan-American Highway, linking Alaska to Tierra del Fuego--well-known, and romanticized by motorcycle enthusiasts. Marcos Zegers The client requested a building rooted in local tradition, inheriting the legacy of the German colonization of southern Chile in the mid-19th century. It needed to be large enough to exhibit motorcycles as freely as possible, while also respondi... More

Los Colihues Pavilion

The pavilion was born from the desire to rise on a wild and undeveloped piece of land, an artifact that would support the installation of photovoltaic panels to obtain energy for lighting and pumping water. More importantly, the structure establishes a place and provides shelter by giving shadow and light to a large table. Patricio Huidobro Patricio Huidobro Patricio Huidobro Patricio Huidobro Patricio Huidobro Patricio Huidobro The main requirement of the structure was to reach an important height and achieve the angle for an optimal operation of the panels. Two materials were used in the structure: steel and wood. The metal structure allowed us to have long, slender, and light vertical elements, thus blendin... More

Casa Quinched

The commission is simple: a house with two rooms and a common space of a few square meters. The budget, as well as the material and labour resources in the area, are limited. The project is located in the bay of Quinched, Isla Grande de Chiloé, in southern Chile, 1,200 km from Santiago. The wooden churches and the stilt houses covered with wood shingles and corrugated tin of different colours are part of the identity of the territory.   The solution is also simple: The house is designed with the construction logic and materials of the area where it is located. In this way, an informal builder in the area took three months to build the project, using materials that were “at hand” and building in the way he has done... More

House and Workshop for an Artist

The requirement was a building that would accommodate an artist’s studio and residential space for occasional use as a weekend house. The 1.500 sqm site is located in Peñalolén, a suburban district with low construction density, and neighbors some undeveloped sites. This condition leaves the building very exposed to its surroundings, so the client required that the project would limit the exposure of the interior spaces and provide privacy. The project also had to be capable of becoming an exclusively residential building at a future time, so it needed spaces to allow new uses and an extension to be planned. The privacy of interior spaces was addressed by limiting and directing the views to and from the exterior. This was accomplished by arr... More
