S House
The parti (overarching principle) of the S House was to divide a long, thin suburban lot into two gardens – native to the east, exotic to the west, to suit the client’s respective tastes – and wrapping the house through them. This move challenged the conventional front and back yard diagram of the residential villa architecture that dot the heritage neighbourhood, but with its compact form and central circulation, the S-House provided a number of lifestyle benefits.

Hard Rock Cafe
The Hard Rock Café has had a restaurant in Eastern Tennessee for more than 14 years. It announced the move from Gatlinburg, Tennessee to nearby Pigeon Forge, Tennessee in February 2014. A desire for a larger space and free parking motivated the relocation, but the move also prompted the restaurant to present a more contemporary look in its new space. To that end, a new exterior sign, made with Banker Wire mesh, combines a modern look with the restaurant’s familiar logo.
Designers of the space specified woven wire mesh to serve as a modern backdrop to the familiar Hard Rock Café logo featured on the exterior sign. General contractor VWCA Construction, Madisonville, Tennessee, directed them toward Banker Wire.

First Crescent
The property, and subsequently the plan of the house, focused on Camps Bay beach, and the views of Lion’s Head in a Northerly direction. There are also great views back to The Twelve Apostles and the Cable Station. To capitalize on the views, meant that the design also needed to respond to issues of privacy with the neighbour’s property. Clerestory frameless glazing (skylights) replaced structure and framed views which might otherwise have been missed. Sandblasting of the full height glazing at the eastern boundary enabled us to maximize light to the linear passage and maintain views of the mountain peaks whilst adhering to councils requirements and ensuring privacy of the neighbouring property.
