ArchiTALKS GAMBARDELLA ARCHITETTI

The lesson pivots around the biography of the architect Cherubino Gambardella, born in 1962 in Naples. Naples at the center, not only of memory, but muse and reference: a multiple city, with "sumptuous" geography, the gulf and the houses, the sky and the sea.   Naples was sunny and full of incredible things, a city that somehow conditioned me and that I liked. Since I was very young, I can say I remember this light, one of the strongest things I have in me. CASA Y

Set on the hills just outside the city of Turin CASA Y is a family house designed for a professional couple with 3 children. Clients’ needs were very large spaces devoted to family life and a low-impact energy and house. The living area with the kitchen forms a large environment whose ample loggia projects outwards, overlooking the valley. The rest of the building is nestled into the sloping terrain. A long na... It was originally characterised by the burnished colour of the metal structure of the facade, tinted glass of the curtain walling and the brown metallic paint used for the smaller block in via Cavalieri given over to residential use. When it was built, it was considered to be modern and technologically advanced, even experimental. Today however, many of its undeniably attractive aspects have become outdated with regards to current standards of building construction. For... More

Salewa headquarters

The functional theme - a large warehouse, offices, factory shops, kindergarten, cafeteria and indoor climbing gym - is articulated following the client’s desire to have a representation of the company’s brand, producing sophisticated mountain climbing apparel. The exceptional location adjacent to the Brennero highway suggested a “landmark” building, in formal dialog with the surrounding steep cliffs. The oxidized zinc envelope and the large north-facing glazed surfaces generate a “mineral” feeling of the whole building on the backdrop of the beautiful and hard landscape. More
