La Botiga is a project born from the idea of providing a unique experience to its customers through its pastries and specialty coffee. The design was based on very clear design guidelines: the space had to be welcoming but at the same time evoke an elegant simplicity. The premises were organized mainly around two large display cases that mark a very clear linear path, designed to enter, walk through, and appreciate all the pastries and baked goods, similar to a museum, before reaching the point of sale. In the village of Lærdal, along the inner reaches of Norway’s Sognefjord, a former fenced-in warehouse from the 1980s has been transformed by MORFEUS arkitekter into a bakery and café. Fredag & Fretland is more than a commercial conversion; it is an act of adaptive reuse that aligns environmental responsibility with social regeneration. This café was inspired by the brand name. Alluding to the science of making cakes, the layout of the café cleverly guides patrons through the various stages of cake production. From the entrance, which symbolizes the start of the process, to the exit where the perfected cakes are proudly displayed, every corner breaks down a different part of the cake-making process. This type of experiential, exhibition-like design invites patrons to explore and appreciate the intricacies of baking. Located in a shopping center in the eastern zone of São Paulo, this café’s space is organized around a high, sinuous table that extends towards the counter where coffee is served, at the back of the store. Side benches under inclined panels integrate with tables and chairs, completing the layout dedicated to visitors. Immersion in the Mountains and Sea In order to create a casual image of the corporate brand, we brought the warm atmosphere of a vacation into the space, taking inspiration from both mountain and sea. In the lounge area at the entrance of the office, particular elements were utilized to convey a warm feeling and to symbolize the entrance to an urban jungle, such as curved booth seating, a special wooden grid pattern, and wooden floors.
