Just one block from the iconic Ermita park in Mérida, Yucatán, this house presented a unique design challenge: how to work with an existing structure that had undergone a past renovation which erased much of its colonial character. Instead of reverting to a false historicism, we embraced the layers of time and opted for a reinterpretation that honors both the colonial essence and a bold, contemporary vision.

Casa Mango
The project consists of remodeling/expanding a house for an elderly couple, of approximately 184m2 located in the historic center of Merida, Yucatan.
This house presented unfavorable conditions because it was in a state of significant deterioration.

As part of the design proposal, the original architecture of the house and original spaces were maintained, as well as the existing pasta floors.
The proposal includes an extension of an arcade that links the garden and pool area with the existing vegetation of the site, which is part of the terrace.

Architectural bureau MAD Architects has developed a sales office for the new residential complex “Sydney City” on Shenogina street in Moscow. This is one of the main projects of FSK Group, which is one of the largest developers in Russia.

Modern decor style
The building to our client is constructed in factory neighborhood. Each facade tells a story of aesthetic emotions linked with each space in terms of its color palate.We tried to blend modern interiors, flooring and plenty of open spaces where you can break away for a change of scenery. Office layout is kept quite simple with central alley leading us to the owner’s cabin. Office space includes main director office, working space with desks, meeting room, and an informal reception area.Exterior elevation of the office is quite unusual with heavy ornamented bracket wooden frame design. This project, located in the historic downtown of Merida, Yucatan, has been restored by Workshop architects. The original house had 4 rooms and the front yard. This spaces were transformed into the Foyer, Guest bedroom with a bathroom and the Living room. The wooden beams and the angled door frames were taken back to life with a pastel color scheme, natural wood furniture and discreet light fixtures. The art pieces complete the young and sophisticated atmosophere.The kitchen space opens to the main Patio. The colors and materials are used in a more contemporary way but with a continuity from the main house.A very lush garden with beautiful fruit trees give the freshness that Merida's hot weather needs.
