The project consists of remodeling/expanding a house for an elderly couple, of approximately 184m2 located in the historic center of Merida, Yucatan.
This house presented unfavorable conditions because it was in a state of significant deterioration.
As part of the design proposal, the original architecture of the house and original spaces were maintained, as well as the existing pasta floors.
The proposal includes an extension of an arcade that links the garden and pool area with the existing vegetation of the site, which is part of the terrace.
Yucatan is reflected in the palette of materials and finishes. This is composed of natural resources endemic to the region, such as chukum on floors and walls, toh stone, tzalam wood, and the existing artisanal pasta floors of the house. As for the colors, we chose neutral, warm tones emphasized by Colonial Yellow.
