IRT

Project Overview After more than 15 years in the same Wollongong office, IRT, a provider of services for older Australians, found that its workplace no longer reflected the organisation it had become. It wanted an environment that matched its culture, supported new ways of working and gave people a reason to return to the office. Before deciding whether to relocate or stay, IRT worked with Amicus to understand its options. Milly Mead Milly Mead Milly Mead A workplace strategy process came first. Amicus engaged employees on how they worked, what they valued and what they needed from a future space. The findings gave IRT the confidence to reinvest in its existing tenancy rather than move. The owner's ambition was to create a dining destination that clearly distinguished itself from its existing restaurants while expressing a more refined and premium identity. Rather than relying on overt thematic elements, the design communicates this transformation through spatial composition, material richness, and carefully crafted architectural details. The gue... Gilchrist Connell

When a law firm outgrows its office, the new space carries expectation. For Gilchrist Connell's Melbourne headquarters, that expectation was specific: a workplace serious enough to command respect, and considered enough to feel genuinely human. The result is a fitout that earns both. Elise Scott Elise Scott A Building as Brief The project began before a single line was drawn. Brought in during the site selection process, the design team helped identify 530 Collins Street as the right address — a building whose lobby already spoke in the material language the firm aspired to. Rather than treating that as coincidence, the design treats it as instruction. Earthy tones, layered textures, refined detailing: the building's own p... More
