Within the orderly fabric of a residential subdivision, where houses tend to resemble one another and fade into the background, this single-family residence takes the opposite approach: it inserts itself into the lot with decisiveness. The project stems from a precise brief, that of a home able to command presence without need for emphasis, relying instead on the strength of a simple and rigorous idea. The project involves the demolition of the existing building and the construction of a new residence, conceived according to contemporary building principles and criteria of spatial and compositional quality. The architectural layout is based on the definition of a pure volume, carved through a process of subtraction that generates spaces and relationships. The subtracted volumes remain legible within the composition through marks and lines that evoke their presence, creating a perceptual stratification between solid and void. Industrialised house in Barcelona, designed entirely to measure for a family of four who were looking for a functional and spacious layout, designed to enjoy life in the outdoor areas.   The house is located on a plot of almost 1,500 m² and has a built area of 396 m² distributed over two floors. While designing an urban park near the sea in Praia Norte, Viana do Castelo, we were invited to create a small chapel. The site already featured a humble, glass-fronted oratory built by local residents, which was originally slated for demolition. However, given the community’s strong connection to the structure—and their devotion to Saint Peter, the patron saint of fishermen—we felt it was essential to preserve its symbolic value. Located in a building designed by Artacho Jurado in the Vila Buarque neighborhood, the Praça Apartment was designed for a young architect who chose to move to the center of São Paulo. The 70m² apartment underwent a comprehensive renovation aimed at maximizing the integration between spaces. Except for the walls that enclose the bathroom, all other partitions were demolished, creating a large open and multifunctional environment. Can concrete appear as thin as paper and defy gravity?A cantilevered, ultra-thin concrete roof challenges gravity—not as an artificially generated image that ignores physical laws, but as a real built structure in an ordinary garden. With this 53-square-meter garden pavilion, FACE and DUCON bring ultra-high-performance concrete from the lab into practice, allowing it to float delicately. An 11 by 5 meter, just 90 millimeter thick roof slab hovers over a long table with an integrated fire pit. Vaslab builds on the design concept from Amanda Levete Architects to connect the public footpath to the interior of the buildings. The result is a 3-storey building that has three separated masses. In the front, two masses are of unequal sizes, appearing as though the buildings were cut and separated until space was created. The second floor open courtyard that is connected through a staircase nearby the project entrance, makes it easier for passers-by to be persuaded into the park as the concept intended.
