Contemporary public space

Architecture in Yazd does not function based on standards but possibilities. This project explores the relationship between standardization and contextual possibilities in architectural design. Caption Basements and burial spaces have always played a significant role in Yazd's architecture. Our design transforms these traditionally undervalued spaces into functional office areas while relocating parking to the upper levels, creating a new spatial order. Situated in one of Taoyuan’s rapidly transforming districts, Bade Primary School responds to a recurring condition in Taiwanese school architecture: the tension between speed, simplicity, and identity. Many public schools delivered under such frameworks result in monochrome, highly utilitarian environments. We find a privileged site in the highest part of the region, a large free area with surprising views and abundant nature. Taller MRD and DFArquitectos collaborate to revitalize the Santa María Petapa market in Oaxaca, Mexico, offering it a new opportunity after the devastating earthquake of 2017. Established by the Urban Improvement Program (PMU) and headed by the Secretariat of Agrarian and Territorial Development and Urban (SEDATU), this project had as its main objective the unification and integration of a previously urban and socially fractured space.
