The construction of the Rimac Campus was initiated with the goal of uniting all segments of the company in one location, enabling seamless integration of development processes and production. Located in Sveta Nedelja, near Zagreb, the campus encompasses business, development, and production facilities, along with supporting amenities for visitors and employees. The project is planned in phases, including the construction of the production facility, office building, and landscape design. The architecture of most industrial factories is often rigid, monotonous, and designed solely for work, typically lacking in quality by overlooking the living conditions of the personnel. However, since employees spend a significant amount of time in the workspace, it is essential to consider factors that influence their sense of satisfaction and comfort. Studies have shown that the work environment impacts employee satisfaction, attachment to the workplace, performance, efficiency, and ultimately, the productivity of the factory. This project integrates the rigor of mechanical precision and the rigor of logic into the architectural design, and is committed to establishing a harmonious and interactive relationship between buildings, equipment, and people. An obsolete factory in the Poblenou neighbourhood of Barcelona has been carefully restored by Spanish architectural studio b720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos (b720). Once the Simon electrical material factory, the building has been transformed into Simon’s new corporate headquarters. The headquarters integrates over 350 employees previously dispersed across two offices into one unified campus. The rehabilitation preserves the concrete structure of the mid-20th-century industrial building while introducing new elements to support its function as a corporate hub, promoting openness and connectivity with the surroundings. Nearly a century after leaving, Voysey House’s original commissioners returned as occupiers in 2024.
