Dhaka-based Nakshabid Architects has designed the Green Field factory of Karupannya Rangpur Ltd in Alamnagar, Rangpur, Bangladesh. The factory’s environment is one that entices its workers to visit for recreation at the weekend. More than just a place of work, Nakshabid Architects sought to create a compound in which workers from surrounding communities enjoy a homely atmosphere — the integration of nature into the design helps make this possible.

FRPO designs green thermal power plant as architectural icon
Madrid-based architectural studio FRPO Rodríguez & Oriol has completed a green thermal power plant for the Spanish District Heating company DH Ecoenergías. Located in the Spanish city of Palencia, the small thermal power plant building is described by FRPO as “the visible part of a whole that remains hidden from view.” The studio approached the project from an architectural viewpoint, creating a building as an “icon” and a “reference” to green energy transition, its design a contrast to more mundane industrial architecture.

Glued laminated timber — also known as glulam and GLT — is, as the name suggests, a form of timber made by gluing together layers of wood to create beams and columns in a range of sizes. Glulam is often used in long-span designs — its strength-to-weight ratio is superior to both concrete and steel. Glulam is made in both straight lengths and curved pieces typically from fir, larch, oak, pine, or spruce. It is often used in medium/high-rise timber residential and commercial projects where height is not a constraint.

Coldefy has designed a leather goods factory in the Ardennes for French design house and heritage brand Hermès. The “Maroquinerie de la Sormonne” is the second such factory in the region for Hermès, its considered design one that revisits the archetypal leather atelier. In Shaoxing, China, the new é é é | BSH headquarters is a mixed-use complex containing retail space, an office, R&D productions, restaurants, and a factory for the production of high-quality goose-down bedding products. Incorporating an Experience Centre and a 300-acre public park, the colourful development celebrates the clean, carbon-neutral fabrication of Vestre furniture, setting a high standard for manufacturing facilities and the high-efficiency production of the future.
